Bombplate of the Week : Carolina Story

There’s something about a male-female duo that just sounds right. The blend of the two drastically different sounding vocals always seems to give me chills. Now, I had heard of Carolina Story before this, but I hadn’t really delved into their music until now, and I’m so glad I did.

That is one of the best things about featuring our artists; there is so much music and talent out there that I don’t know about and by featuring our artists I get a chance to dive in. When I first decided on Carolina Story I wasn’t sure what to expect and I was pleasantly surprised with what I got.

Since they’re a married couple I assumed that it was going to be your standard love songs about their happy marriage, etc.…Boy was I wrong. The duo definitely strives to stay away from any assumptions about a married musical duo. Their lyrics are deep and are definitely not about sappy love stories.

They’re raw and real.

Now, I may be a bit biased for these guys because they are very Civil Wars-esque. Americana with a dash of country influence. Also known as my favorite genre.

I’m also a sucker for male-female harmonies. I just think it rocks, especially this duos.

…Back to Carolina Story:

They’ve been together since 2009, and have released 3 albums, now working on their 4th. The music itself is primarily vocals, acoustic guitar and then some kind of background percussion to keep it all together and give the sound some more depth (not that it really needs any, did I mention those harmonies?).

The duo is releasing an album in the near future, but they haven’t set a date yet. Get excited though, it’ll be great.

Carolina Duo has that raw beautiful sound that can’t be made in it a studio. It’s their emotions that create their sound.

All I have to say is that Carolina Story is worth a listen, and their new album will be well worth the wait. I’d bet on it!

Congrats again, Carolina Story!
